Welcome to The Kingswinford School: an excellent school striving for all of our community to ‘Be Extraordinary’. We pride ourselves in being one of the very best schools in our area whilst remaining very much at the heart of our community.

Since joining the Windsor Academy Trust in November 2016, the school has gone from strength to strength with exam results climbing rapidly each year; the range and extent of wider experiences growing exponentially and site and facilities being revamped, developed and expanded. We are rightly proud of the incredible work of our students, staff and whole community in making this a truly exceptional place for young people to learn, grow and develop.

At Kingswinford we believe that all students in our community deserve the very best start in life and our excellent team of staff strive daily to make sure that they have the very best opportunity to do just that. For many years we have had a strong reputation for achieving high academic standards and for ensuring our students can be happy and safe.

The Kingswinford School offers an academically broad education supported by an incredibly rich extra-curricular programme based around our student ‘Pledge’: a set of twelve challenging experiences for students to achieve and excel at before they leave the school. This combination of academic and extra-curricular activities, we believe, prepares our students perfectly for the next step in their education and on into their future careers.

Our last full Ofsted inspection was extremely successful and The Kingswinford School was judged as a “Good school” (with some outstanding features). However, we are not content with just being ‘Good’ and will continually strive to improve and make the lives of the young people of Kingswinford better and brighter year on year.

WAT Philosophy

WAT is committed to achieving the highest quality learning experience for all of its students and to achieving the best possible outcomes for all.

The learning experience is based upon a set of learning and teaching principles that have been developed by teachers across the Trust and provides a uniting philosophy that places the learning needs of all children at the heart of the trusts work.

A powerful component has been the synergy of primary and secondary collaboration. Whilst secondary specialists in Mathematics, English and Physical Education have added high quality capacity to the learning experience of the primary children the detailed knowledge and experience of excellence at primary level has led to a changed and ever more challenging curriculum for the secondary students.

Each Headteacher is responsible for the standards in their own school and they in turn are accountable to the Chief Executive who in turn reports to the Board of Directors. Whilst there remains considerable autonomy in each school there are centralised strategic functions around Finance and Personnel that allow for very effective economies of scale and ensure a unity and consistency of purpose.

Each school has its own Local Advisory Board (LAB) encapsulating the fundamental commitment of the trust to maintaining each school at the heart of its own community. The LAB works with the Headteacher to oversee and support the curriculum and progress of all its students.

The WAT Way

Windsor Academy Trust has the highest aspirations for all. Crucial to our success is the unlocking of personal as well as academic potential to grow character and a core set of values, beliefs, attitudes and behaviours.

Our students, teachers, support staff and parents/guardians understand, support and practise these values. Daily interaction between and amongst members of our community are based on these beliefs and have become a natural part of what we do and how we do it.

We aim, “To nurture a culture within our community that is largely self regulating (looks after itself), based on mutual respect (treat others as you wish to be treated), and allows for academic success and personal development”.
